Aftercare Information
1
Cleaning your Tattoo
For the first wash, we recommend that you use hot water and wash your tattoo gently but thoroughly with an anti-bacterial handwash or mild body wash.
The first wash should be carried out for 15 minutes with constant lathering up and washing off.
This ensures that all excess ink, blood, and lymph have been washed away. Pat your tattoo dry with clean kitchen roll and allow it to air dry for 10-15 minutes. Do not rub dry.
Repeat this process twice per day for 10-15 days, if you are unsure, ask your Artist.
Always wash your hands before cleaning.
2
Aftercare Cream
Your tattoo may require aftercare cream, your Tattoo Artist will advise whether you need it.
If applying, after the cleaning regime above, we recommend YAYO Aftercare. We have our very own YAYO-made pots available in the studio for £3.
Please use sparingly as overuse will clog pores and the tattoo "wound" will be unable to breathe. Always wash your hands before and after applying aftercare.
We do not recommend Bepanthen, Vaseline, Savion, Germolene, Sudacream, or any antibacterial creams for a healing tattoo.

Things to Avoid
Your tattoo should be kept dry (excluding the cleaning regime). No baths, swimming, steam room, hot tub, or sauna. Avoid doing the dishes if your wrist or lower forearm is tattooed.
Avoid sun exposure during the healing process this includes sun beds. No fake tan, exfoliating products, or other moisturisers on the tattooed area.
If the tattoo is on your feet or lower limbs, wear something loose and breathable. Flip flops or ballet shoes should not be worn as exposure to dirt, rain, etc, may lead to infection.
4
General Hygiene
Your personal hygiene must be kept on top of as this may lead to complications during healing. This includes keeping yourself, your bedding, and your clothes as clean as possible. It is wise to avoid having pets near your healing tattoo or in your bed.
During the healing process, it's wise to remember you are healing a wound. A new tattoo is vulnerable to infection and all precautions should be taken to ensure it stays clean and healthy.

Aftercare Cream
What you put into your body, such as drugs, medications, alcohol, and smoking, will affect your healing and your healing time.
After around 5-7 days after you have been tattooed, a scab may form and become itchy. Do not pick or scratch the tattoo. Wash, dry, and apply aftercare. Some swelling, pain, redness, and bruising are normal. However, if you are concerned please contact Cherry Pie for further advice.

Touch Ups
Your tattoo may need a touch-up after a few weeks of healing. This is very normal, especially for small and fine-line tattoos. We offer a free touch-up service, valid for 3 months from the date of your initial tattoo. Touch-ups after the 3-month period and for tattoos that were not done in the studio will cost an additional fee. Typically the same artist that did your tattoo will do your touch-up.
